Privacy policy
The personal information SolarTradie handles and why, who helps run the site, and how to request access or a correction or make a complaint.
Who is responsible
The owner of SolarTradie (solartradie.com) is responsible for the personal information handled on the site and can be reached at info@solartradie.com. We follow the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply to us. Personal information is never sold or used for advertising.
What we collect and why
From visitors: IP address, browser type and the pages viewed, kept only for security and to keep the site running.
From anyone who emails us or fills in a form: the message and its contents, so we can answer.
From companies with an account: the sign-in email and company details, needed to manage the page and any plan.
Please do not send us electricity bills, meter data, quotes showing your address, contracts or identity documents. We have no use for them and delete them when they arrive.
No advertising and no tracking cookies
SolarTradie carries no advertising, runs no advertising network such as AdSense and sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies. The only cookies are those the site cannot work without, such as the one that keeps a company owner signed in.
Service providers
Cloudflare hosts the site, protects it, counts visits without cookies and handles our email. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that forms are filled in by people and not bots. Stripe takes payment for the plans companies buy and holds the card details, which never reach us. All three are based in the United States, so some information may be processed outside Australia. We use them because their security suits the job.
How long we keep it
Browsing data: only while security needs it. Emails: until your question is answered. Company accounts: while they stay open. Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Access, correction and complaints
You may ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email info@solartradie.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you think we have mishandled your information, tell us first. If you are still not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Children
SolarTradie is written for adults and not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information about them.
Changes
If the way we handle personal information changes, this page will say so.
